A father’s heartbreaking story: Seeking justice for Nicholas

I want to share a deeply personal and heart-wrenching story about my son, Nicholas, who passed away on February 13th 2022. He was only 13 years and 5 months old. Nicholas had a heart surgery soon after birth and underwent a liver transplant at six months old.

Remarkably, he was one of the five liver-transplanted children in Sweden who did not need immunosuppressive medication. In August 2019, he underwent a planned replacement of his biological heart valve prosthesis, which went smoothly.

From the age of one until his illness in December 2021, Nicholas was healthy and medication-free. He was a joyful, family-loving, and kind boy who enjoyed sports, swimming, movies, and video games like most 13-year-olds. He dreamed of becoming a sports journalist.

Two months after receiving his second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, Nicholas became seriously ill. On the evening of the second shot, he developed a high fever. By November, he was tired and lethargic. On December 4th, he experienced chills, fever, and vomited once.

I inquired about a stomach virus at his school and was told it was going around. I assumed Nicholas had caught it. The fever subsided, but on the evening of December 7th, he became immobile on the couch. I called an ambulance. At the hospital, doctors discovered he had staphylococcus aureus in his blood and heart. Despite a week of antibiotics, the bacteria spread from his implanted valve to his own. The doctors decided on surgery.

On October 6th, 2021, two days after Nicholas received his second dose, the Public Health Agency of Sweden paused Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine for everyone born in 1991 and later due to the risk of myocarditis (heart muscle inflammation).

No one in the healthcare system warned us of this risk, even though the Swedish Medical Products Agency received its first report of this risk in spring 2021, and WHO had directed healthcare providers to warn vaccinated individuals on July 9th, 2021.

The Pediatric Association had issued a statement in the summer about his group ("other organ-transplanted children"), recommending COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 12 and up after an "individual assessment." However, no such assessment was made for Nicholas. Neither his liver nor his heart doctors were consulted before the vaccination.

This was the first violation of his civil rights. The head of the Gastrointestinal and Liver Section at Queen Silvia's Children's Hospital in Gothenburg, where Nicholas received the vaccine, told me after his death that they usually warn about risks. He could not explain why this was not done in this case. No cardiologist was consulted before Nicholas was vaccinated.

The vaccination was prescribed for all transplanted children during the summer, according to the Pediatric Association's recommendation. WHO had already instructed healthcare providers to warn of myocarditis and pericarditis associated with Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines on July 9th, 2021. In Sweden, the Medical Products Agency was responsible for informing healthcare providers of this.

Nicholas spent 68 days at Queen Silvia's Children's Hospital in Gothenburg before his death. He suffered liver and kidney failure and a stroke after his first heart surgery. He had difficulty moving his left arm and leg but could speak and had adequate understanding. However, he suffered more severe brain damage after a cardiac arrest followed by heart surgery on January 15th, 2022.

After that, he could barely speak or move voluntarily. In some tests, he could interact and follow commands. I filmed him moving at my request. A senior doctor started to persuade me on Nicholas's first waking day, saying everything looked "bad" for him to have a "worthy life" and that he would at most be able to "move a little."

A few days after Nicholas woke up, doctors decided he would not be given a ventilator or CPR if needed. He could breathe without a ventilator and sometimes moved his gaze towards sounds and our eyes.

Around January 1st, 2022, he was moved from the ICU to the Medical Department. The ICU had told the Medical Department not to monitor his pulse and oxygen saturation, but I got this changed. I had to fight for him to receive deep suctioning of mucus.

His feeding increased from 100 to 140 ml per session around January 7th, resulting in vomiting at night and aspirating some formula into his lungs. I was there and witnessed this. Someone had made his bed as soft as possible, and he was given clonidine. Nicholas stopped coughing and developed a rattling sound in his lungs.

Doctors discontinued antibiotics to see if they had eliminated the bacteria. His nutrition was stopped on January 10th, after doctors assessed that the bacteria remained in his body based on a CRP increase from 8 to 140 over two days after stopping antibiotics—not a bacterial culture. Black fluid of unknown origin had been suctioned from his abdomen the day before.

Nicholas died two and a half days after his nutrition was stopped. I sat by his side with my hand on his chest. It felt like spears were piercing my heart.

In my grief, I have thoroughly researched what mRNA vaccines can do. Vaccine injuries are generally caused by attacks from the immune system, which can penetrate vessel walls and organs, causing cell death, clots, and scarring. In the heart and brain, tissues do not recover.

I spoke about Nicholas to pathologist Professor Arne Burkhardt at the Doctors’ Appeal conference Pandemic Strategies in Stockholm on January 21-22. Burkhardt, a professor at several German universities with numerous books and studies, was adamant: Nicholas must have developed undetected myocarditis from Moderna's COVID-19 vaccine Spikevax and then become infected in the heart by staphylococcus aureus, causing endocarditis.

Following this, I received support from Professor Björn Hammarskjöld to conduct a medical evaluation. This evaluation led prosecutor Helena Treiberg Claeson to open a preliminary investigation into manslaughter in September 2023, after I supplemented my report with it in August 2023. The investigation is ongoing. The case has been highlighted by several newspapers in Sweden, including the largest, Aftonbladet.
